I revamped my line sketch book into a larger image that utilizes line. I made multiple layers of lines to create an entire scene, and added “watercolor” to complete the look. Below is the orginal sketchbook I ‘replayed’.

My idea with this assignment was to put a visual to the Facebook logo that’s so familiar to us. Facebook is an extremely popular social network that is a huge part of our society and our culture. The silhouettes interacting with each other represent daily exchanges on Facebook.

Above is my final “Art and Science” Project. I started with many interesting elements, such as newspaper clippings, photos, karyotypes, and more. After spray-painting a shadow box gold, I placed all of these items into the box with modge-podge. When I finished, my final product really exhibited the ideas that I had planned it to. I believe that my piece is interesting because it shows many aspects of a scientific breakthrough in terms of its history and future.

Spring Break Trip to an Art Gallery

On Thursday March 11^th , I went to the Currier Art Museum in Manchester, New Hampshire. The Currier has many interesting collections ranging from classic sculpture, traditional paintings, artfully blown glass, antique furniture, and detailed technical drawings. It had a large exhibition on American watercolor paintings, from artists such as Edward Hopper. I found this collection extremely beautiful, and I felt as if I was able to catch a glimpse of our nation’s history simply by examining paintings all from the same era. The contemporary art collection also inspired me. Although I didn’t recognize many of the artists like I did in most of the paintings, the perceptual anonymity made the art even more interesting. While I identified the contemporary sculptures from Alexander Calder, I observed very interesting work from other artists. It was interesting to encounter modern work that contrasted to the traditional art that the Currier had that were centuries old. It was a good experience to see how our perception of art changed throughout time.
